Cultural festival breathes new life into Qingshui Military Dependents' Village
In 1949, the Air Force established a presence in Qingshui Village. Over the past few years, the military dependent’s village has faced demolition following a spate of land expropriation by the government. However, the local population and other interested public figures believe that the military dependents’ village has some rare cultural characteristics, and also happens to be the site of the ancient Zhongshe Ruins As a result, the Department of Cultural Affairs proposed a preservation plan with the Ministry of National Defense in the hope of retaining cultural diversity and the memories of local residents. Sponsored by Taichung Cultural Affairs Bureau, Qingshui Military Dependents' Village Cultural Festival opened on November 14, injecting new life into the old military dependents’ village with a series of activities.
