Promoting care for senior citizens in Taichung’s local communities

In today’s society, young people are busy working during daytime and have no time to look after elderly parents or relatives. Taichung’s Abundant Blessings Community Association of Taiwan (台灣福氣社區關懷協會) was established in order to adapt to the mental and physical care needs of elderly residents in modern society. The association hopes that through putting into practice the concept of “Elderly Care in the Community,” proper care can be given to the elderly, dementia sufferers, and family caregivers, not only helping elderly citizens to live a more normal life but also reducing the pressure on family caregivers.

The Abundant Blessings Community Association of Taiwan is a small-scale enterprise providing multifunctional care. The association was originally based at Qingshui Living Support Center, where it only provided day-care services; today, however, in addition to providing general day-to-day living services, healthy meals, and rehabilitation services, it also provides home-based care services that cater to individual family needs. The association hopes to continue doing its bit to assist family caregivers and senior citizens so that each and every family member can live a dignified, healthy and happy life.

現今社會，年輕人白天外出上班，無法同時照顧家裡的長輩。為了周全對老人的身心照顧和社會適應，在台中存在著一個協會名為台灣福氣社區關懷協會。協會成立的目的是希望透過社區服務來讓在社區裡的老化身心障礙者家庭、失智長者以及家庭照顧者得到相對應的幫助，讓長輩能過正常生活及減輕家庭照顧者的照顧壓力，實踐「在地老化」的社區照顧理念。

福氣社區關懷協會是屬於小規模多機能的服務單位。從一開始設立在清水區的生活支持中心，只提供白天的照顧服務，到現今除了提供一般生活照顧、營養餐飲、復健等服務以外，也會在家屬有需要時，提供家庭托顧服務。希望可以藉由自己一點點的力量，幫助到更多有需要的家庭照顧者和長輩們，讓每位家屬及長輩都可以健康快樂的生活。
