A deep love for the land – Donghai Community builds a sustainable lifestyle

Finding a way to green up our life and achieve sustainable development has been a key concern of Taiwanese people for many years. In recent years, Donghai Community has used natural farming and a sustainable farmers’ market to encourage people to get friendlier, closer, and more intimate with the land.

Donghai Community regularly organizes planting activities for residents, and with the help of students from Providence University, participants have been able to observe the process of cultivating the land. A gradually worsening living environment, ever-greater food risks, and steadily increasing pollution, pose an invisible threat to our quality of life. To guarantee a better world, where people have wholesome food to stay healthy, and where future generations will have the same, it’s imperative that we become friendlier to the land and begin focusing on not only the health of our bodies but also the health of the environmental and soil.

如何綠色生活？如何實現永續發展一直是台灣民眾關注的問題。東海社區近幾年通過居民種田和舉辦永續生活小農市集等活動來鼓勵民眾友善土地、親近土地、感受土地。

東海社區經常組織居民包田種植，也會和靜宜大學同學合作來開墾農田、觀察農田種植過程。現在的生活環境比較惡化，食物也常常伴隨風險，再加上很多的污染，無形之中影響了我們的生活品質。所以我們要友善土地、友善環境，讓我們的生活可以一直這樣美好下去。

民眾一直希望身體健康，希望吃的食物健康，我們就要重視環境健康、土壤健康，讓我們的子子孫孫永續的生活在這片土地上。
