The mural art of Weiwu Mimi Village

The community of Weiwuying in Kaohsiung’s Lingya District came into being around forty years ago. Through inviting famous artists from home and abroad to paint murals in the community, a once monochrome Weiwuying has been transformed into a beautiful patchwork of stunning technicolor murals that exude an entirely different atmosphere from the area’s past; the village even revamped its name and is now known as Weiwu Mimi Village.

Now in its fourth year, the community intends to continue painting colored murals and still very much welcomes the influx of tourists. How the community will change in the future is anybody’s guess, so Weiwu Mimi Village is definitely worth keeping an eye on. Through the joint efforts of everyone, today residents have a lot more color in their lives and Weiwuying has found a way to set itself apart from most other communities.

在高雄市苓雅區的衛武營，有個歷經四十年的老舊社區，在邀請了國內外知名藝術家，彩繪不同的圖畫後，整個社區從單調的油漆變成一幅幅美麗的畫作。牆上也渲染著與過往截然不同的氣息，而這充滿藝術的社區也取了個迷人的名字叫做｢衛武迷迷村」。

目前衛武迷迷村已經邁向第四年，未來會繼續完成更多的彩繪圖畫，居民們也都非常歡迎前來造訪的遊客。究竟未來這個社區會變成什麼樣貌？也備受大家關注。透過社區的共同努力，為自己的家增添一分色彩，也讓衛武里這個小社區變得與眾不同。
