一個不敢選的政黨，和一個搶著要的政黨，你看出什麼差別了嗎？陳菊看到『人性很脆弱』，我卻看到『人性很自私』，除卻自私還是自私，兩個黨沒什麼不同。

首先需對中文字意稍作澄清，只見脆弱語意清楚毫無問題，不見自私卻很曖昧，可以是沒有自私，也可以是對自私兩字刻意隱藏或視而不見。
毫無疑問的，陳菊是民進黨內介於天王和中生代之間的『新領航者』之一，誠如楊秋興所言，他惟一輸的就是輩分，從輩份上來說，蔡英文都在陳菊之後。楊秋興倒是有個盲點，除了輩份不如陳菊，陳菊有全國性知名度，楊秋興在這點上則大大不如。
從表面上看，國民黨和民進黨有何不同？國民黨在台南、高雄兩地沒有人願意參選，馬英九和金溥聰關愛的眼神沒有人敢接受，因為很難選，沒有人願意當政治砲灰。民進黨在台南高雄兩地則如夜市一般熱鬧非凡，尤其在大高雄，秋菊之戰殺到見骨，為什麼？因為雙方都知道，兩人之一任何人出來都是贏，贏了黨內就贏了高雄，一塊肥肉擺在眼前，因此捨我其誰、非我不可，即便你死我活也值得一戰。

兩個月前，和一位跟民進黨很有交情的教授聊天，我提出了『陳菊禮讓楊秋興』的建議和理由，陳菊表現出領導者氣度，將大高雄禮讓優秀又能贏的後進，自己轉而投入艱困的新北市甚至投入大台中，不但替民進黨開創另一個贏的機會，也為黨內和諧氣氛開創新局面。這樣的建議，教授認為是個『違反人性的好建議』，他說會轉達給民進黨參考。
選戰有時候真是皇帝不急急死太監，或許秋菊大戰，只是個民進黨的欺敵之計，當事人早有默契和安排，大吵大鬧為的只是故意誤導國民黨，使其做出錯誤的判斷和佈局。果真如此，這一篇論述反而洩漏天機害了民進黨。相對的，秋菊兩人為大局者想、忍辱負重不見自私的偉大情超，將成為台灣政治史上的美談。

為爭取黨內提名，同為民進黨的兩位大高雄候選人陣營，近2個月來已戰到互殺見骨的激烈對峙。從未說過重話的陳菊，在本刊專訪時感嘆「人性很脆弱」，她直言，期待黨中央要有是非；另一方的楊秋興則指出，他惟一輸的就是輩分。。。。。。 「我不會否認過去，但早在我參與黨外活動、民進黨還未成立、還沒有新潮流前，就有我陳菊的存在。」
