The people of Myanmar who put down roots in Zhonghe’s Huahsin Street

All foreign tourists who have traveled to Taiwan are familiar with the enthusiasm of Taiwanese people. Huahsin Street (華新街) in New Taipei City is also known as Myanmar Street. New immigrants living here have created a sense of belonging and enriched the diverse culture of Taiwan.

This short street is filled from end to end with the traditional hometown flavors of Myanmar. For overseas Chinese who have immigrated here from Myanmar, Huahsin Street’s familiar food and greetings in familiar accents keeps cherished memories alive. Myanmar Street not only enriches Taiwanese culture but is also a gathering place for new immigrants to hang out and soothe the pangs of homesickness.
