Hear the voice of Jade Mountain – Indigenous School of Music

Principle Peter Ma (馬彼得) is the creative spirit behind the 5-year-old Indigenous School of Music (原聲音樂學校). His goal is to attract students from the surrounding indigenous population to attend a summer school program that includes singing and musical training. He hopes the program will help to increase the quality of education in outlying areas that tend to lack funding.

With the Indigenous School of Music currently still at the experimental stage and yet to be incorporated into the formal education system, it faces a lack of manpower, resources and funding. Moreover, the relative inaccessibility of the school means that teachers are hard to come by and the turnover is high. The Indigenous School of Music hopes that by becoming a part of the formal education system, the educational standard for local people will see a marked rise.

原聲音樂學校由校長馬彼得校長創立，至今五年，目的是為了聚集了當地原住民各部落的學生進行暑期課輔、合唱及打擊訓練，在偏鄉教育資源缺乏的狀況下，盡可能的提升教育的品質。由於原聲音音樂學校目前仍然是一個實驗性學校，尚未納入教育體制內，所以在人力、物資、金錢上都面臨困乏，且因為交通遙遠，師資的數量不多，流動率尤其嚴重。原聲音樂學校期望成為體制內的一個實體學校，提升當地的教育品質。
