The nation’s only junior diving team

Fourteen kids from Taipei’s Dun-Hua Elementary School constitute Taiwan’s only school diving team.

The team’s spectacular performance at this year’s President’s Cup National Diving Championships acquainted many more people with the sport of diving, and heralded the start of a new era for the sport in Taiwan.

With regards to the children’s training, the diving coach requires strict discipline and gives careful thought to each stage of the training. This includes meticulousness in everything from warm-up exercises to diving off the springboard.

Despite the strict training schedule, a deep affection for diving has provided the children with sufficient motivation to dig deep and persevere.

Armed with enthusiasm, dynamism and the courage to challenge their own personal boundaries, this young group of athletes has been instrumental in helping the sport of diving in Taiwan take a significant step forward.

就讀台北市敦化國小的14位小朋友組成了全台灣唯一的跳水校隊，他們在今年全國總統盃跳水錦標賽中表現亮眼，讓更多人認識了跳水這個運動，從此在台灣展開了新的一頁。對於小朋友們的基本訓練，教練雖然嚴格但卻用心良苦，從暖身操到跳下跳水台的每一個動作都要求嚴格，但是小朋友們並沒有因此而放棄，因為這是他們最喜愛的運動。這些小運動員們勇於挑戰自我，秉持著對跳水的熱忱和衝勁，為台灣的跳水運動跨出一大步。
