In Taiwan, a stray dog captured on the streets has just 12 nights in which to be adopted, or claimed by the rightful owner – known as the 12-night fate. Fortunately, owing to the care of one college club, some dogs are free to safely exercise in the campus grounds. This is Chang Jung Christian University campus, where the loving companionship and help given to the dogs has saved them from the ’12-night fate.’ The student members take care of the dogs’ everyday needs and organize regular vaccinations. Club head, Zhao Ai-lan (招靄嵐) said that without the care of club members, the dogs would be destined for the pound, where adoption rates are extremely low. In the hope that the dogs will escape the 12-night fate, club members enthusiastically hold charity events to raise funds for dog food.
