Jia De-lan helps children from vulnerable families study English

In the activity room of Dalin library in Chiayi County, Jia De-lan is currently providing free lessons in elementary English. Teaching children from vulnerable families as well as her own daughter, Jia De-lan aims to ensure that these children don’t fall behind others. After her own daughter suffered difficulties in achieving good English grades, Jia De-lan decided to meet the challenge head on and began teaching English herself. Even after her own father fell ill, she was unwilling to cancel the English classes, and instead rushed back and forth between taking care of her father and attending the classes. She strongly believes that an even more important aspect of the classes is in providing the children with someone to accompany them growing up.

在嘉義縣大林鎮圖書館的活動室中，創立免費英語基礎班的賈德蘭(female)正在台上教課。賈德蘭教的對象除了自己的女兒，還有弱勢家庭的孩子，讓這些學童在學習英文上不會落後於人。因為女兒在校英語成績受到打擊，賈德蘭開始正視孩子的英語基礎教育，她決定開班讓弱勢孩童也能學習英語。即使因為父親生病，她也堅持在照顧父親與英文班之間來回奔波，不願意讓英文班中斷，並且她認為教育的背後，其實更需要的是陪伴成長。
