Recently, an adult day clinic at Taipei City Hospital’s Songde Branch introduced group-singing lessons as a new method of rehabilitation for sufferers of chronic mental illness. The clinic engaged the skills of teacher Chen Bo-Wei (陳柏偉), who through in-depth discussions with patients leads them to compile song lyrics and create rhythms for their own songs. To date, those attending the class have already completed dozens of songs, and at each Monday class, attendees will sing the songs that they have personally created. Singing with great gusto and showing a lot of self-confidence I have no doubt that the classes will be a great help in stabilizing their diseases and promoting recovery.
