Hsin Kang Foundation of Culture and Education - Promoting environmental awareness for 28 years

Hsin Kang Foundation of Culture and Education (新港文教基金會) has been promoting environmental awareness at the Dajia Mazu pilgrimage for many years. This year a great number of volunteers came to assist in manning the organization’s promotional outlet as well as providing free meals at over ten stations along the pilgrimage route. In order to avoid any environmental pollution, the organization provides pilgrims with eco-friendly cutlery and volunteers use an eco-friendly detergent called bitter tea powder to wash dishes. Thanks to the longstanding promotion of environmental awareness by Hsin Kang Foundation of Culture and Education there has been a general rise in the public’s awareness of environmental issues over the last three years. The organization currently urges pilgrims to bring their own eco-friendly cutlery, thereby further reducing garbage and environmental pollution.

大甲媽祖繞境進香活動中，推動環保概念的新港文教基金會，今年仍然號召不少義工投入，除了新港文教基金會站之外，還有十幾個免費供餐據點，都提供環保餐具，更以不會造成環境污染的苦茶粉給義工們當清潔劑。在新港文教基金會的提倡與民眾環保觀念的提升下，近3年的媽祖活動也提倡香客自帶環保餐具，減少了大量的垃圾和環境的污染。
