Wheelchair girl Lin Xin-Bei fearlessly travels the world
Lin Xin-Bei (林欣蓓) was suddenly paralyzed at the tender age of just 4 years old. After doctors failed to come up with a reason for her condition and her family were equally baffled, Lin Xin-Bei’s illness was finally labeled “acute spinal inflammation”. From that point on, she would never be able to walk on her own two feet again, and has been confined to a wheelchair ever since.
In spite of her paralysis, she was determined not to give up on life, and sitting on her wheelchair at a height of just 135 cm, she embarked on an epic round-the-world travel adventure, visiting 10 countries; Lin Xin-Bei proved that people confined to wheelchairs can do all the things that “people with two good legs” can do. In June 2014, Lin Xin-Bei spent a year traveling through the 10 countries of Japan, Thailand, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Holland, New Zealand and Palau, on an epic journey of over 50,000 kilometers.
Lin Xin-Bei’s life was indeed radically transformed when an unknown cause paralyzed her for life. But though she has complained, felt indignant and thought about giving up, in the end, Lin Xin-Bei one by one overcame all the barriers life threw at her. Today, she is pretty much just like anyone else; working hard, enjoying life, and traveling to the four corners of the earth – perhaps with just one added attribute, fearlessness.
