Departing from outside the Environmental Protection Administration at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, the demo was led by Taiwan Healthy Air Alliance founder Yeh Guang-peng (葉光芃) and joined by a large number of public figures, including former Academia Sinica president Lee Yuan-tseh (李遠哲), Director Wang Shaudi (王小棣), NTU’s Associate Dean of the College of Public Health Chan Chang-chuan (詹長權), Chiayi City Mayor Twu Shiing-jer (涂醒哲), Legislators Tien Chiu-chin (田秋堇) and Liu Chien-kuo (劉建國), and Chichi Mayor Chen Jiheng (陳紀衡).

Taiwan Healthy Air Alliance founder Yeh Guang-peng said the skyrocketing concentrations of fine suspended particles (PM2.5) in the western region of Taiwan experienced since the autumn was causing poor air quality and seriously affecting the life and health of people in the area, and that the situation could no longer be ignored. Yeh added that in view of the urgency of the situation, we should be promoting sustainable development and not simply leaving the problem for future generations to solve.

遊行下午2時隊伍從環保署門口出發，由台灣健康空氣行動聯盟葉光芃擔任活動總指揮，包括前中研院長李遠哲、導演王小棣、台大公衛院副院長詹長權、嘉義市長涂醒哲、立委田秋堇、劉建國、集集鎮長陳紀衡等人都到場一起遊行。

台灣健康行動聯盟發起人葉光芃表示，入秋以來，西部地區細懸浮微粒（PM2.5）濃度常常紫爆，空氣品質不良嚴重影響生活與健康，不容忽視，基於急迫性，全球暖化不該是一個留給未來世代解決的問題，而是要提倡永續和完整完展。
