Cold Front vs. Warm Front
On the 24th of January extreme cold weather struck Taiwan and snowscapes were visible in many parts of the country. Despite the bitterly cold weather, a group of volunteers responded to a call from Fengyuan branch of Huashan Social Welfare Foundation (華山基金會) to support a fundraising event aimed at providing New Year’s dinner for elderly people living alone.
In the freezing cold conditions, volunteer activities included enthusiastic performances, creating spring couplets with Chinese calligraphy, games and a charity jumble sale. The enthusiasm of volunteers touched everyone, and all those attending expressed their complete support for the event. In spite of the bitterly cold weather, the love created by the event released a heartfelt “warm front” palpable to everyone.
