‘Joyous Dance in Sheng Ping 4’- a concert for grandpas and grandmas

Sheng Ping Junior High School is located in Zhuqi Township, Chiayi County. In 2012, the school invited elderly people under the care of Huashan Social Welfare Foundation (華山基金會) and elderly residents in the local area, to attend a special music concert. Recently, once again senior citizens under the care of Huashan Social Welfare Foundation in Zhuchi (竹崎), Zhongpu (中埔), and Meishan (梅山) areas, as well as senior citizens in the local area, were invited to enjoy a music concert. Conducted by Wan Guo-ting (萬國廷), the 4th ‘Joyous Dance in Sheng Ping – Musical Feast for Elderly People Living Alone’ – delivers a musical trip down memory lane and therapy for the soul.

The biggest barrier to elderly people participating in such music concerts is transportation. Fortunately, members of Zhuqi’s China Youth Corps (救國團竹崎鄉團務委員) and Huashan Social Welfare Foundation were on hand to shuttle elderly residents scattered around the vicinity to and from the concert, ensuring they didn’t miss out on this wonderful musical feast. For Grandpa Lin, who lives alone in Jhuci’s Jiadong, it was the first time he had participated in such an event. ‘I often listened to these songs as a youth’, he said. Grandpa Li, who lives along in Shuishe Village, wanted to thank the enthusiastic help of all the students. The Zhuqi branch of Huashan Social Welfare Foundation, which was established in 2010, is now in its sixth year, serving a total of 158 vulnerable elderly people living alone. The annual concerts, which have all been roaring successes, are providing much-needed concern to people from all walks of life.

「樂舞昇平4」-一場給阿公阿嬤的音樂會

嘉義縣竹崎鄉昇平國中自101年開始邀請華山基金會服務的獨居長輩及社區長者參加「獨老音樂會」。第四屆「樂舞昇平-獨老音樂饗宴」在萬國廷老師的指揮下，邀請華山基金會竹崎、中埔、梅山地區50位長輩及社區長者到校聆聽懷舊音樂，療癒長輩們心靈。
    
獨居長者參與活動最大的困難點在於交通問題，在救國團竹崎鄉團務委員與華山基金會到散居各地的長者家到宅接送，讓長輩們順利聆聽音樂會。獨居竹崎茄苳仔的林阿公今年是第一次參與，說到這些老歌都是少年時耳熟能詳的；而獨居水社寮的李阿公則感謝學生熱心攙扶。華山基金會竹崎站99年在地設站迄今已6年，累計服務158位獨居弱勢長者，每一年的音樂會在各界幫助下都圓滿成功。
