Volunteers promote safe interaction between people and dogs
According to statistics, stray dogs dwelling near rivers account for one-sixth of dog disturbance cases reported to New Taipei City. In a bid to address this situation, Taiwan Animal Equality Association (TAEA) has organized three volunteer training courses where animal behavior expert Polo explains ways to avoid conflict with stray dogs.
In the hope of reducing conflict between people and dogs, trained volunteers participate in at least two riverside dissemination activities, where material learned in the class is spread to riverside visitors. Director-general of the association Lin Yi-shan (林憶珊) said she hopes that through education more volunteers will join their mission, providing front-line foot soldiers who can provide information to the public and change opinions.
