Passing on the softball tradition – After the Glory
Wang Yi-qi (王逸綺), the current softball coach at New Taipei City’s Wugu Elementary School was once a national softball player. Though she performed on behalf of the nation in countless international events, without a professional Taiwanese softball league she was forced to look at the practical considerations of making a living. After graduation she became a coach, allowing Wang Yi-qi to continue passing on her softball skills from behind the scenes.
Training in softball since elementary school, Wang Yi-qi represented Taiwan in countless international competitions from junior high school through graduate school. Though Wang Yi-qi reminisces on memories of the past as she watches the children playing softball, today, she has given up personal aspirations and is solely dedicated on passing on the skills of softball on to the next generation.
