Migrants’ Park – Caring for Taiwan’s migrants
Established in May 2016, Migrants’ Park is an independent online media platform reporting on foreign workers and immigrants in Taiwan. As the name implies, the platform is for migrants who have moved to Taiwan from other countries - mainly Southeast Asia - and devoted their life to local society. The name Migrants’ Park is a reflection of the culture of migrants in Taiwan, who often meet up in local parks to chat and enjoy themselves, an activity that helps to ease the sense of homesickness many experience.
Founded by the former editorial team at 4 Way Voice, the current core members of Migrants’ Park includes Editor-in-Chief Li Yue Xuan (李岳軒) and Chief Executive Officer Peng Yiwen (彭以文). The pair decided to establish Migrants’ Park after feeling that Taiwan’s migrant workers from Southeast Asia were still subject to a great deal of unfair treatment. Through the platform, they are continuing to play the same role as 4 Way Voice, giving a voice to the vulnerable, reporting and sharing the life stories of migrants in Taiwan. It is hoped that Migrants’ Park will facilitate a coming together of divergent peoples on the island of Formosa.
