Bringing eco-friendly farming to schoolchildren

In a bid to promote food & farming education and encourage schoolchildren to reconnect with the land, this spring, Zhuchi Farmers’ Association invited local farmer Yang Sheng-xiang (楊勝翔), to teach a special course about the land to fifth-grade schoolchildren from Luman Elementary School.

Young Zhuchi farmer, Yang Sheng-xiang, who embraces an eco-friendly attitude to farming the land, hopes that sharing the spirit of eco-friendly farming with local students and teaching them to cherish food will help address the outflow of young people and desertion of local farmlands in the local area.

The cucumber seedlings were carefully planted by the schoolchildren in rows on raised beds. When the cucumbers ripen in two months, the sincerity of their diligent work in planting and caring for the plants will no doubt be reflected in the flavor.

為推廣食農教育鼓勵學童親近大地，竹崎地區農會今年春季，邀請在地青農楊勝翔為鹿滿國小五年級學童，帶來一場田野間特別的大地課程。

以友善農業經營的態度對待作物與大地的竹崎青農楊勝翔，鑑於偏鄉青年人口外流與農地的逐年荒蕪，希望透過實務操作將友善農作的精神帶給在地學童，並傳達對食物珍惜的態度。

一顆顆黃瓜幼苗在學童的細心栽植下，成排的站立於田埂間，這些幼苗將於二個月後熟成，以最真實的品質回應栽植與照顧者投入的心力。
