60th anniversary of Barbie dolls: Taishan passes on its heritage
This year is the 60th anniversary of Barbie, the favorite toy of many children around the world. Located in Taishan, New Taipei City, Taishan Doll Museum is filled with a diverse selection of Barbies from over the years. Though Barbie's head office is located in the United States, in the twenty years from 1967 until 1987, Barbie was produced in Taishan, Taiwan.
Thanks to the hard work of Taishan Doll Museum, Barbie is no longer a symbol of Western culture and has begun to adopt the Taiwanese cheongsam, traditional Chinese attire, and even traditional indigenous clothing, showing the beauty of Taiwan.
Barbie used to be every child's playmate and is intimately connected to everyone's collective memory. The precious Barbie culture has been passed down through the generations and has beautified our lives.
