Breaking through stereotypes – getting reacquainted with cheongsam culture

Today, there is a widely held belief that cheongsams objectify women and are only suitable for women with perfect figures. However, the cheongsam heralded a turning point in the struggle for democracy and gender equality.

The traditional cheongsam is not only a beautiful and elegant dress unique to Chinese culture but also an important traditional craft. Therefore, Taipei Cheongsam Club (旗袍同好會) is trying to promote cheongsams and raise the public’s awareness of cheongsam culture

現今許多人對於旗袍有著刻板印象，時常被認為需要身材好的女生才能穿，或者被定義為是物化女性的產物，但其實旗袍的來歷，在爭取民主自由、男女平等上是一個重大的轉淚點。。

旗袍這樣美好的傳統工藝，不但是華人女性很特別的一種，很美的、優雅的一個服飾，也是一個很重要的傳統工藝，所以｢旗袍同好會」希望能夠推廣這個服飾，然後讓大家再度注意，然後喚起大家就是對旗袍文化的記憶。
