Postal Museum passes on the beauty of postage stamps

In the past, after writing a letter, you had to put a stamp on it and pop it in a postbox. Some people, known as “stamp collectors,” even amassed collections of their favorite stamps. Today, however, in the information age, most people use the Internet to communicate with each other, and have less and less exposure to traditional paper letters, which makes people increasingly unfamiliar with stamps.

The Post Museum in Taipei’s Zhongzheng District provides a detailed history of stamps and aims to promote the characteristics and beauty of stamps through various exhibitions and interactive mediums. It is hoped that for the children of future generations, stamps won't merely be confined to textbooks and that the unique characteristics of posting letters won't be swallowed up in the tide of the digital age.

以前寫信時都需要貼上郵票，並投進郵筒寄出，有些人甚至會挑選好看的郵票收集起來，就是所謂的「集郵」。但到了現在資訊化時代，大多人都用網路來聯絡彼此，越來越少接觸到紙本信件，也就對郵票更加陌生。位在台北中正區的郵政博物館，就詳細地介紹了郵票的歷史。

郵政博物館希望透過展覽與互動形式，推廣郵票的特色與美麗，希望下一代的孩子們不是只有在課本中才看過郵票，也期望郵政的特色能不被數位化時代的潮流給淹沒。
