Reducing stray animals through mobile neutering clinics
Many places in Taiwan have a serious stray-animal problem, and excessive stray animals often result in conflict with humans. The source of this problem is large numbers of abandoned, badly raised, and free-ranging cats and dogs. Heart of Taiwan Animal Care (HOTAC) discovered that “free-ranging domestic dogs and cats” make up the main proportion of stray animals.
To solve the stray-animal problem directly at the source and assist rural areas with scarce medical resources, Heart of Taiwan Animal Care Association initiated Rural Area Neuter Action (RANA). RANA sets up temporary medical stations in different locations to offer people a free neutering service for free-ranging domestic dogs and cats.
