Pingtung Gonghe preservation news topics

Donggang County’s Gonghe Village is one of the last vestiges of the Japanese occupation in Taiwan, and in its day, was home to the Japanese Navy. After the war, Gonghe became home to the Taiwanese Air Force Academy and is now an extremely important green area for the local residents of Donggang. Unfortunately, the Ministry of National Defense plans to demolish the buildings and tear down the old trees, replacing them with high-rise buildings. In a bid to preserve the people of Donggang’s one remaining green area, large numbers of citizens have come out to participate in protest activities. CJ Ben and SuSu have put out a series of reports covering the ecological and historical importance of the area, as well as the significance of the architecture. CJ Nature 23 has called on everyone to come out and take part in these demonstration protests, and expressed his hopes that together the people can stand up and voice out the people’s need for green areas and places of historical value in their lives.

東港鎮的共和新村是日治時代大鵬灣畔的東港海軍航空隊軍官宿舍區，也是戰後後空軍幼校等單位眷屬的居住地，更是東港鎮民運動散步的好地方。但不幸的是國防部打算拆掉房子挖掉老樹蓋大樓，為了保留這片東港人唯一的大片綠地，不少人發起搶救活動，公民記者阿Ben與素素都作出系列報導，記錄共和新村的生態、文史與建築價值，而公民記者nature23則呼籲大家一起參與搶救活動，希望公民一起站出來，向相關單位表達人民需要生態綠地與歷史空間的心聲。
