PeoPo’s Southern Citizen Journalist Gathering 2011
PTS PeoPo News Platform holds an annual citizen journalist gathering to allow CJ’s from far and wide to become acquainted with each other and exchange valuable experience. On the 22nd October, the 2011 Southern Citizen Journalist Gathering was held in Kaohsiung’s Formosa Mice Corridor (美麗島會廊) and attended by over 50 citizen journalists.
Many citizen journalists commented that shared video reports on their private blogs would rarely reach 1,000 hits, but on the PeoPo platform, over 10,000 hits were quickly reached, a factor that has helped raise awareness for many important issues. One citizen journalist remarked that by simply paying attention to our day-to-day surroundings, one is able to find ample material for newsworthy reports. Citizen journalist gatherings have a warm and friendly atmosphere and provide an opportunity for CJ’s who normally only interact through the online network to have a face-to-face meeting. This is a chance to give each other moral support and
encourage continued efforts in the field of citizen journalism.

PeoPo公民新聞平台每年都會舉辦公民記者聚會，讓各地的公民記者可以互相認識、彼此經驗交流分享。2011年南部場的公民記者聚會，於10月22號在高雄美麗島會廊舉行，現場聚集了50多位公民記者共同參與。
公民記者分享時提到，過去在部落格發表的影音報導，累積了一兩年，也少有千人以上的點閱率，但在PeoPo發表後，短短時間就累積了上萬人次的瀏覽，讓自己關心的議題被更多人看見。
也有公民記者分享，認為生活周圍發生的事情，只要用心觀察紀錄，都可以是公民報導的題材。公民記者聚會的氣氛溫馨熱絡，也讓不少以往只在網路平台上互動的公民記者，有了面對面交流的機會，彼此互相打氣鼓勵，繼續在公民新聞的領域努力。
