Lee Bo (李波), the person in charge of Causeway Bay Books (銅鑼灣圖書), has been unseen since he went missing on the 30th of December 2015. On January 10, Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China (香港支聯會) launched a demonstration in protest over this political kidnapping and to support the 'one country, two systems' principle. The demonstration, which made its way from the West Wing Central Government Offices on Tim Mei Avenue to the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Western District, attracted the participation of at least 49 organizations and thousands of people.

With huge misgivings over China’s position on the ‘one country, two systems' principle, the people of Hong Kong are demanding that the Chinese government clarifies its position and at the same time release Lee Bo and the other four missing employees from Causeway Bay Books.

Although the demonstration’s main demand was for the release of Lee Bo, from the variety of slogans, viewpoints and flags on show, it is clear there is great anxiety over Hong Kong’s autonomous status and future. “Today Lee Bo, tomorrow Hong Kong” summed up the understandable worry, especially the loss of freedom of speech and the right to personal freedom.
