Laiyi Township compassion bus route provides medical treatment

Set up as a pilot scheme in 2014, Pingtung’s Laiyi Compassion Bus became fully operational in 2015. Indigenous villages in the county have a high percentage of elderly residents, people suffering from reduced mobility and women taking care of children and juveniles, the majority of who are without any means of transport.

Although Pingtung County provides public buses to and from the city center, there are only four a day, and busses are unable to enter each and every village. Moreover, with elegibility restrictions on accessing the Rehabus Service provided by the government, the demand for medical treatment is not being met.

In a bid to rectify the situation and ensure that the township fulfills its responsibility to meet the medical needs of its citizens, a bus donated to the township by an external donor has been put to use. The bus operates four days a week: Monday and Wednesday to Fangliao General Hospital; and Tuesday and Friday to Pingtung Christian Hospital. In addition, two care volunteers have been provided to assist with getting on and off the bus, and help people register with doctors and the hospital.

來義鄉公所愛心巴士 啟動醫療接駁心動線

屏東縣來義鄉愛心巴士接駁計畫，於103年中起試辦營運，並於104年正式全面營運，因為部落中多為老人、行動不便者或是為照顧稚兒之婦女，多為無交通能力者。雖然有屏東客運往返於市區，但一天四班，班次甚少且未能班班進入鄉內每個部落； 而且縣府所提供的復康巴士，有申請資格之限制，對於就醫人口之需求未能滿足。

因此來義鄉公所運用外界捐贈之中型巴士，作為醫療關懷接駁車輛，每周上班日共安排四天，周一、周三至枋寮醫院；周二、周五至屏東基督教醫院，接駁本鄉就醫人口，並於車上設有兩名愛心巴士志工，協助上下車輛及醫院掛號就診。
