Pingtung Your Shoot - Eco-friendly “Non-toxic Agriculture”

Today many farmers are making the transformation into organic farming, but with the added effort and time required to tend crops, the price of organic food often far exceeds that of conventionally produced agricultural products. Using “Non-toxic Agriculture” methods, which include the safe use of chemicals and a deep grasp of metabolism, a group of farmers in Pingtung’s Jiuru Township is growing chemical-free crops.

For this year’s Your Shoot event in Pingtung, PeoPo Citizen Journalism Platform teamed up with North Pingtung Community College, Jiuru Farmers' Association and various other organizations. At the event, the 50-plus participating citizen journalists were given the lowdown on how small local farmers expertly use chemicals to control plant pests and disease and produce crops that are certified free from pesticide residues. As with all Your Shoot events, the participating citizen journalists made countless excellent reports, capturing all the stories of these industrious small farmers on camera.

現在有許多農民轉型投入有機農業的行列，但是需要花更多的時間與心力照料，有機農作物的價格，也比一般的農產品高出許多。在屏東縣九如鄉有一群小農則運用「無毒農業」的種植方式，謹慎的用藥及掌握代謝，種植出無毒的農作物。

PeoPo公民新聞平台今年與屏東縣屏北社大、九如鄉農會等組織合作舉辦踹拍活動，共有50多位公民記者到場參與，了解當地的小農們，如何運用藥控制的專業，生產出農藥零檢出認證的農作物，也用鏡頭記錄下小農們辛勤付出的故事。
