Wild ducks arrive in Huajiang – The wetland must be protected

Huajiang Wild Duck Season is a combination of bird lectures, community building, and school performances to celebrate the arrival of migratory birds to Huajiang Wild Duck Nature Park (華江雁鴨自然公園) in autumn and winter each year. Huajiang Wetland Guardian Alliance (華江溼地守護聯盟) and countless other ecologically-minded individuals conduct long-term ecological monitoring and various innovative environmental education activities.

This is the first year that Huajiang Wild Duck Season has been hosted by Huajiang Village, which has mobilized the support of all sections of the community including schools and ecological groups. Attracting large numbers of participants, Huajiang Wild Duck Season is not just about short-term activities but more a long-term endeavor to pass on the concept of ecological diversity. Active guardianship and the continuing support of the public are required to avoid the destruction of our fragile wetland ecosystems.

每年秋冬都有來自北方的候鳥，在台北市華江溼地公園過冬，而一年一度的華江雁鴨季，結合了賞鳥解說、社區營造、學校表演等，吸引許多民眾參與。這塊土地有許多守護者，包括華江溼地守護聯盟，他們長期在此做生態監測，也用各種方式做環境教育。

今年的雁鴨季活動，第一次由華江里主辦，動員了社區、學校和生態團體，也得到各方支持。華江雁鴨季不只是一場活動，觀念的傳達更加重要，完整而多樣性的生態系，其實非常脆弱，很容易被人為破壞，它需要長時間維護，以及更多人珍惜。
