On walking into Taoyuan International Airport, one is met with empty lobbies and closed check-in counters. With travel agencies banned from taking tour groups, the pandemic has hit the tourism industry hard. Tour guides instantly lost their jobs and suddenly had to face the reality of zero income. Many people in the industry have taken the opportunity to attend further education classes to enrich their studies and better themselves. In contrast, others have found new jobs to survive the pandemic.

Some tour guides have found new full-time or part-time jobs in different fields, while others have combined their own interests and experience in leading tour groups to become YouTubers, shooting song covers, introducing tourist attractions, etc. The sudden onslaught of COVID-19 has disrupted many people's lives, but it has also highlighted the stories of many people developing creativity under adversity to find a way forward.
