因金城武拍攝長榮航空「I see you」廣告而暴紅的台東縣池上鄉伯朗大道「金城武樹」，被麥德姆帶來的強風吹倒，不堪強風吹拂，竟然連根拔起倒塌，據錦園村村長李文源表示，他今早五點多巡視時發現金城武樹已倒在路邊，不過他表示茄苳樹生命力很強，應該可以搶救回來，只是栽種的位置需要調整。
池上鄉鄉代會主席黃麗香表示，畢竟金城武樹是帶動當地觀光的指標，因此要修剪枝葉馬上扶正，讓金城武樹能繼續存活。新興村村長許金興表示已經向池上鄉公所回報，他說這颱風是近二十年來侵襲池上最強的風，風力約有１２～１５級。他緊急通知相關單位，相信將會很快的將金城武樹扶正。

Following Eva Airline’s ‘I see you’ advertising campaign, the “Takeshi Kaneshiro Tree” on Chishang Township’s Bolang Avenue in Taitung shot to fame. Unfortunately, the tree was recently uprooted and toppled by strong unrelenting gusts from typhoon Matmo. Jin Yuan Village (錦園村) head Li Wen-Yuan (李文源) found the fallen tree after making a patrol of the area at five in the morning. Fortunately, according to Li Wen-Yuan, red maples are extremely resilient and the tree should live – the position of the tree, however, may have to be moved.
Chairman of Chishang Residents Council, Huang Li-Xiang (黃麗香) indicated that in view of the fact the Takeshi Kaneshiro Tree has become an important focal point for the development of Chishang’s tourism industry, in order that it survives, the tree will be quickly pruned and immediately replanted. Head of Xinxing Village (新興村), Xu Jin-Xing (許金興), expressed that a report had already been made to Chishang Township Office. He added that with gusts of Force 12 to 15, typhoon Matmo brought with it the strongest winds to strike Chishang in the last twenty years. The relevant departments were urgently notified and it seems likely that the Takeshi Kaneshiro Tree will be quickly replanted.

(原來最嚴重的災情)~處處濫墾濫伐皆無人問津~區區一株何以掛齒!要有心就救救所有的樹吧!(麥德姆肆虐後相信還有更多蒼生比這棵樹更需要救援)
人是現實的,只要對自己有利基的都很快的做.
希望這次事件後,大家會更重視樹木保育,不單是金城武樹而已
如果家裡有種樹適度修枝是必要的，孤單一棵樹受到的風力太大了，加上田溝靠近是主要原因，茄苳樹生命力很強扶正沒有問題的，希望樹頭留一些泥土地給它呼吸，不要全部鋪設柏油路會更好。
適當疏伐是可以的，但是給他自由成長的空間卻是要優先考慮的
否則下回颱風一來，還是會倒。
金城武樹居然會倒...這棵茄苳樹應該有二三十年了吧.遇過的颱風(類似這次麥德姆的路徑)少說也有好幾次..
是樹有靈性嗎???告訴外來遊客別再打擾它了，
這樹外觀還好，會這樣倒確實令人不解

但是我覺得沒給他空間
讓他將南邊水泥牆都穿裂了（我之前有拍）
颱風一來沒依靠就倒了！
是環境殺了他不是颱風的錯
我覺得讓他倒下的不是單一的原因,而是多重的,
環境當然是主因之一！
